           The Cleveland Association of Paralegals, Inc. (CAP) is celebrating Ohio Paralegal Day May 17th. Governor Ted Strickland signed a Proclamation declaring the 3^rd Monday in May as Ohio Paralegal Day. Mayor Frank G. Jackson signed a Proclamation designating May 17, 2010 as Paralegal Day in the City of Cleveland. The date was selected to mark when the first paralegal association, Paralegal Association of Central Ohio, was incorporated.  It is a day to recognize the hard work and dedication that paralegals do on behalf of their employers and for the public.

            A paralegal, as defined by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc., is a person qualified through education, training and work experience to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts and is customarily, but not exclusively, performed by a lawyer.

            CAP has played a vital role for paralegals in Cleveland, Ohio since 1975. CAP works closely with many area law firms, corporations, banks, educational institutions, local bar associations and the public sector. They are a prominent organization for everyone from, paralegals who are just entering the profession to seasoned paralegals.  The most important opportunities CAP provides to its members are: education, networking, leadership, and mentoring.
